A 3-month course for linguistic adventurers
Are you a language learner? Me, too! I have been teaching and tutoring languages for years, but also learning them myself. My main takeaway is that people succeed and have more fun when they approach language learning as a creative project or an adventure.
That’s why this fall I am offering an adventure-themed course for independent learners. Whatever language you want to pursue, whatever reason, and whatever level you are starting from, I hope to help you on the journey.
Language Base Camp is a 3-month online course designed to inspire, excite, and guide you. You can join anytime this fall, but to participate in the live workshops on Zoom and get the most from the private messaging forum, sign up by September 6.
I want to say thank you to Nicki Benson for inviting me to be part of Esperanza Education almost 10 years ago. I realize that blogging here has given me the opportunity to put down in writing many of my reflections on the learning journey. Here are some past blog posts you might enjoy.
- Seeing your notes as a journal
- Building daily rituals of learning
- 5 ways to keep going
- It gets better
- Not worrying about backsliding
- How to sound smart in a new language before you are
- Approaching learning as a fun, public project
I also recommend this post by Roma on overcoming negative self talk in language learning. Being confident and proud about our pursuits is something I am still working on in Arabic and in all languages.
This fall, I hope to be part of a group where we really lean into celebrating our language adventures!
